Chapter 13

Across Town

Quince

My head was still spinning a bit from last night but I was functioning more now than I did then. My belly was full as fuck. Bunny had fixed a nigga five slices of bacon, four scrambled cheese eggs, cheese grits, toast with strawberry jelly and a nice size juicy T-bone steak. I hadn’t had a home cooked meal like that since before my grandma died. She cooked for a nigga and explained that she didn’t want anything from me. She wasn’t going to bring shit to Daisy and didn’t want to fuck up what I had going at home. All she wanted was my time. That was it.

The past 24 hours replayed over and over in the back of my head. I couldn’t recall fucking Bunny but she claimed it was damn good. As if I would think otherwise. But was it fucked up that I didn’t have any remorse for what happened last night? When I woke up this morning I was fucked up about it but after talking with Bunny, it all seemed to go away. I felt like shawty was being real about her intentions. My feelings weren’t wrapped up in feeling like she was on bullshit.

"Hey, you're awake. I hope you like Mickey D's." The door clicked, as I entered the house with a paper bag full of junk food and holding a cup holder with two coffees.

"Hey. Um, you’ve been gone for 2 days and all you can say is hey?" Daisy laughed trying to play off her dismay.

"Well don’t trip on the shit. I had some business I had to take care of. It was nothing. Trust me," I countered nonchalantly.

"I’m not tripping. Tripping would’ve been me blowing up your phone trying to figure out where the hell you were and why you couldn’t call me to tell me you would be gone." She took a bite of her Sausage Egg McMuffin.

"Yeah. I mean, my bad. But it was some really strenuous work that I couldn’t really talk about. It’s all good though." I took one of the three blunts she had sitting on the island counter and fired it up.

“Work huh? Yeah, I guess I’ll accept that.” She took the blunt from my hand hitting it twice before handing it back to me.

"I mean what else are you gonna believe, Daisy?"

"Look, I don’t even want to talk about that anymore. Whatever you did, I don’t care as long as you weren’t with another bitch, it’s all good with me," she munched on her sandwich some more before taking a sip of her coffee.

My eyes cut to her as I hit the blunt trying to figure out what she knew if anything. It was weird as fuck that she would bring some shit like that up but given the circumstances, I played it cool knowing that’s the first thing a woman will think was going on. If she were pissed that I slept with another woman, she wouldn’t be sitting there eating food and smoking a blunt.
